WalkBoston knows that nothing draws a crowd like a crowd, and sometimes the only thing it takes to get community members out and walking is an interesting event. WalkBoston offers our members and community supporters dozens of opportunities a year to learn more about WalkBoston and get to know their communities on foot. From lectures and historical walks to scavenger hunts and networking events we are constantly looking for new ways to get people walking and talking about walking.
Our signature annual meeting is held in March of each year. The WalkBoston annual meeting is designed to celebrate our achievements and to recognize the contributions from our board members, individual and corporate members and supporters. The festive gathering provides an opportunity for walkers to mingle with the leaders in pedestrian advocacy, while the formal program includes remarks from the WalkBoston Executive Director followed by a featured guest speaker.
Each year WalkBoston also acknowledges the work and accomplishments of local walking advocates in the form of our Golden Shoe Awards and Walkers' Choice Awards. The Golden Shoe Awards are presented at our annual meeting to celebrate and reward those who have bettered the walking environment and who exemplify the ideals that guide WalkBoston. While our Walkers' Choice Award recognizes businesses that provide inviting public spaces that encourage pedestrians to linger as they walk through their communities.
